What’s new pussycat, woooaaaahhhwoooaaahhhwooaaaaaahhhhh!

So. Prague was lovely lovely lovely. Weather was kinda shitty, but that’s been Europe all summer. Last day I took a walking tour, I was the only american and the only girl. That was fun being surrounded by fine looking aussies and brits all day.

Night train to Budapet. I was in a couchette with a family…I”m not sure where they were from. The parents could speak German (and the kids English, I think…though I didn’t talk to them) and they aid something about Bulgaria. Arrived bright and early in Budapest, found my hostel and took a nap along with the three Norwegian girls in my room who had just arrived from Vienna.

Hit the town and explored by foot a bit. I’m on the Buda side of town and it’s a nice walk along the river to get to all “the sights.” Spent yesterday exploring some more, went to the castle and walked about on the Pest side. Met up with a friend of Laura and her boyfriend. We had dinner, strolled along the river and had dessert. They were very nice and showed me some stuff around town.

Today has been the first really nice day in a long time. I picked the perfect day to go to the baths. They were built by the turks when they invaded ages ago. Apparently the guy in charge was afraid that the war would keep people from bathing so he built the baths…which is pretty funny if you know some of the worst european stereotypes about the Turks. Anyway, it was lovely…I am now a light shade of pink after spending much time in the sun, swimming, soaking and sauna-ing. It was quite a nice way to spend an afternoon and I ended up giving my flip flops to an american guy, whom I’m meeting for dinner, for about $10 because someone stole his nice leather sandals. Oops! I also ran into cute “Scottish guy with the English accent who just finished studying in Boston” for the third time…and he’s going to Vienna tomorrow too. Lovely guy, maybe I’ll run into him there too. Strange times these are.

Oh…I just sent out a second round of postcards. I mailed the last of the first round in Prague. So, if you haven’t gotten any yet…you will get at least one very soon- if not two. Hope you all are having a lovely summer!
