So the last week and a half has been super busy. Time seems to be on a downhill racecourse and she’s picking up speed.
Weekend before last I went to Oberlin, Ohio for a dance weekend. My motivation was primarily social but it was really nice to do a lot of dancing, too. There was much dancing and chatting with people I see two or three times a year. I don’t know if I really retained much of anything from the classes, but that’s ok. I don’t anticipate using any of it for the next few years. My legs were sore for a good four days afterwards- a rare thing for me.
Upon arriving home in Detroit, I seemed to have just enough time to unpack and repack my bags in time to hop on a flight to Asheville to visit family. I arrived in time to celebrate my grandmother’s 87th birthday and have a few days of quality time with her as well as my aunt and uncle. It was a very pleasant visit, though I wish it could have lasted longer.
On Friday, I had my last dj gig stateside for the next few years. Upon finishing my set, I packed up and drove across town to meet up with Dave, who was home for the weekend, and Mike (as well as his sister and brother). After running errands all day Saturday, the evening was again spent in the company of those two fine gentlemen.
This week has already almost half over. It’s been mostly errands and I did a local picture expedition today, after last minute doctor appointments and procuring of GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!!! I’ve got a couple of boxes squirreled away and I may just make a second trip downtown to buy a box to take with me. A host family might like a box of Samoas, right?
Today I head out to Lansing to visit and take care of a few more things. I should be stopping through Ann Arbor for a little bit of dancing and farewells. I’ll be back in Ann Arbor next Wednesday, but I don’t know if I’ll have a spare minute to pop in and say hello. Who knows, maybe I’ll have time to stop through Hell and take a picture…
