A lesson on the Filipino postal system

If you want something to arrive in time and intact, don’t use it.

My mom and sister mailed out some rather sensitive items to me and sent them express mail through the USPS. They arrived last Friday, about 3 weeks after they were sent. This would be impressive if it hadn’t been sent express.

I am happy that my package arrived at all and it wasn’t even opened! Can’t say that will always be the case, though. This has led to the conclusion that, if you’re sending something that’s somewhat important- use DHL. Otherwise, let me know it’s coming and we can time how long the trip takes.

  1. Maybe the postage to the Philippines is less. It’s not nearly that much for me to send things from here to the states, and prices in this aspect are usually comparable in USD value. Besides, I said when it’s important. The problem is that USPS arrives to country fine, but from arrival to your door any number of things can go wrong- DHL doesn’t have that problem.

  2. The DHL qoute is accurate, if at least their website speaks the truth. No doubt though that DHL would be the better choice quality wise if things were a priority but lord knows that any package I send would not be of any kind of priority.
