Dreams

So, I don’t think that I dream very often and I certainly don’t remember my dreams but once or twice a year- but this morning I woke up from an odd one.

I dreamed that I was at something for school, I don’t know what, and it looked oddly like the 4-West music library at MSU. For some reason, they were handing out peace corps assignments. The “recruiter” was this guy Jeff that was a friend of mine during high school- we went to homecoming my junior year. Anyway, he said to me, “Congratulations! You’re going to Shanghai.” It was odd, because I got the distinct feeling that I was supposed to be packed and ready to go rightthen. Also, the idea of going to China (big city or not) was not exactly pleasing. Not that I wouldn’t want to go there, but the idea of living there for a few years and learning Chinese sounded a bit daunting.

Funny thing is, after a conversation with another high school friend of mine a few weeks back, I found out that this guy Jeff is actually living in Shanghai. He got a job with a company there and he’s been there for a while now. It helps that he’s fluent in chinese, but it’s kinda odd because he’s SUPERchristian and that’s a big no-no in China. Apparently, he warned all of his friends not to even say anything like “God bless” in an email because he could get deported over it. How strange. And he used to be all, “so are you christian???” in high school. My how things change.

Also, I went to the Ferndale police station today to get fingerprinted for my peace corps paperwork and for whatever it is I need to do to be qualified to substitute teach. No luck. Apparently, they only fingerprint on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10 and 11:30 am. Guess I’ll have to make a trip to the Lansing police department. Doesn’t that sound fun?
